After the huge success of the Women's Premier League in the Indian subcontinent, the cricket boards of Australia along with India and England are in talks for the next big women's tournament. It has been reported that these top cricket boards are planning to launch the Women’s T20 Champions League in 2024.

The Cricket Australia Chief Executives and Chair, Nick Hockley and Mike Baird are in talks with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and ECB, which includes meetings around the Lord’s Ashes Test as well as the WTC Final 2023.

The reports by Sydney Morning Herald suggested that according to a CA executive, further talks took place at the ICC’s annual conference, held in South Africa earlier this week. During the meeting, the member nations approved a proposal to hand the BCCI as much as 38% of revenue from the recent sale of global events. The reported sale is expected to be around USD 3 billion.

Reports further state that the franchises involved in the Women's Premier League, Women’s Big Bash League (BBL) and Women’s Hundred are to be involved in the tournament. The initial plan is likely to rotate revenues and financial gains like ticket revenue, whereas corporate hospitality will be retained by the country hosting the league.

Meanwhile, there have been claims that while the Women’s Champions League can be launched in the next round, the Men’s Champions League is not expected to return anytime soon.
