The cricketing scenario across the world has completely changed over the past few years, owing to the continuous and enormous growth of the T20 cricket format. Several T20 leagues have come up, which not only has made cricket more familiar and popular among common masses, but it also enables cricketers to get more exposure and earn more fame than they would by simply playing as per their regular annual contract. Proving to be a complete boon for the international players, T20 leagues have changed the picture of international cricket.

In one such move, as per several reports, Australian cricketers have been approached by different Indian Premier League franchises with deals worth U$ 7.5 million (409,680,071.64 INR approximately) to represent their team in different cricketing tournaments. As per The Age, the IPL franchises that are supposedly making deals are continuously approaching senior Australian cricketers to play multiple tournaments for them.

It would mean that the international cricket scenario that is currently dominated by international matches will soon be taken over by several T20 leagues. For example, Red Chillies Entertainment, which holds major stake in Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League also owns franchises and teams like CPL’s Trinbago Knight Riders, the ILT20’s Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket.

This deal is reportedly to involve senior Australian cricketers who are nearing their retirement age, denying contracts from Cricket Australia, and going with high-paying deals with Indian franchises, and playing cricket for multi-million deals on a 12-month basis.
