Australian Open 2023: Sania Mirza & Rohan Bopanna enter Mixed Doubles Final, beat Neal Skupski-Desirae Krawczyk 7-6, 6-7(10-6)

Notably, the Mixed Doubles final will be Sania Mirza's final Grand Slam appearance.

Indian mixed doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna advanced into the Australian Open 2023 final after beating the American-English pair of Neal Skupski-Desirae Krawczyk  7-6, 6-7(10-6). The Indian duo started with winning the opening set of the match in a nervous tiebreak.

 

But the second set was all full of twists and turns. The Indian duo was leading the set at the starting with the American-English pair levelling it at every tiebreak point. However, the Indian pair held the match point and stole the tiebreaker 7-5 after being 3-5 down at one point of the time.

 

In the decider set, a ten-point tiebreaker called into play. The Sania-Bopanna pair raced to a five-point lead and rounded their point winning it 10-6 to race into the final of the mixed doubles at the Australian Open 2023.

 

With this win, the Indian duo of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna will play their first Grand Slam final together. The duo reached the semifinal at the Rio Olympics in 2016. However, Sania Mirza, who is playing her final Grand Slam has won two Australian Open titles - one in mixed doubles alongside Mahesh Bhupathi (2009) and one-win  women’s doubles alongside Martina Hingis (2016).
