Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has pulled off a sensational win at the Austrian Grand Prix after teammate Carlos Sainz, who was on course to make a Ferrari one-two, suffered an engine failure that landed him out of the race on lap 57.

With the win, the 24-year-old Ferrari driver has revived his title hopes as he cut his counterpart Verstappen's championship lead to 38 points. Leclerc is now in the second place in the standings ahead of Red Bulls' Sergio Perez.

During the concluding phase of the race, Leclerc complained to his team on the radio about the sticking accelerator which also affected the gearbox. However, the Ferrari driver maintained his composure to bring his first win since the Australian GP.

Red Bulls' Max Verstappen claimed second place while Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton also achieved a podium place after starting eighth in the race. Hamilton's teammate George Russell finished fourth.

As far as Ferrari's Carlos Sainz is concerned, he had started driving in third but landed out of the race after an engine failure led to a fire in his car. As the flames spread, Sainz was still in the car before a track marshal stood up to his aid. Before ruling out of the race, the 27-year-old Ferrari driver recorded the best lap time of the race and looked set to pull off a potential Ferrari one-two.
