After the crash-driven British Grand Prix, Formula One moves to the home turf of Red Bull i.e. Styrian mountains for the Austrian Grand Prix. The reigning champion Max Verstappen had not the best of outings in the recently concluded British GP after he finished seventh at Silverstone. The Dutchman became a victim of floor damage which eventually cost him his result.
Ferrari's Carloz Sainz pulled off a stunning pole position in the British Grand Prix, while his teammate Charles Leclerc slipped to P4 in a final lap. Notably, Ferrari opted to retain track position during a Safety Car period rather than pitting him for fresh soft tires like everyone else.
Red Bull extracted disappointing results at the British GP as its lead driver Max Verstappen suffered further Silverstone disappointment when he sustained damage from a piece of debris which severely impacted his result, as it took him out of the equation for the podium. However, Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez seized the opportunity and achieved P2, which came as a relief for the Red Bull in the Constructors' tally. Perez is just 34-points behind Verstappen.
The British GP was also marred by a horrific car crash as Alfa Romeo driver Zhou Guanyu's car flipped upside down at the first corner before skidding across to eventually smash into the impact-absorbing barrier at high speed. AlphaTauri's Pierre Gasly clipped the rear left tire of Mercedes' George Russell, which caused Zhou's accident. Russel was forced to retire due to pile up on the track, he even abandoned his car and rushed to check Zhou's well-being.
