The schedule for the much-anticipated 17-team Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship 2023 is announced on Sunday. The action will kickstart on Tuesday (February 14) and run till February 19.

One of the favourites and defending champions China will be in the action on the first day at the Expo City Dubai Exhibition Centre. They will take on Uzbekistan in a Group A clash, while Japan and Indonesia will be up against Pakistan and Syria, respectively, in Group D and C.

India marks their presence in Group B and will clash against Kazakhstan in their opening tie. Furthermore, the host UAE will take on Malaysia in the same group encounter.

The three groups (A, B and D) will witness teams playing three games each, while Group C will have teams getting involved in four games each for a place in the quarter-finals. The top two teams from each group will make it to the knockout stages, which will take place on the fourth day (February 17). The semi-finals and final will be played on Sunday (February 19).

The organizer, Dr. Sathya Menon, CEO of Beyond Boundaries, expressed delight to welcome all the participating teams.  

“We are very delighted to announce the schedule for the Dubai 2023 edition of Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship. All the top teams will be in action right from day one. For the local fans, there will be a lot on offer to cheer for and not just their home team playing but watch their favourite international stars,” said Dr. Sathya Menon, CEO of Beyond Boundaries, the local organizer for the event.

This will be the first occasion of UAE hosting the Badminton Asia Championship, which will play a key role in their qualifying for the Sudirman Cup, Thomas and Uber Cups and the all-important Olympics.
