According to reports, Barcelona turned Joao Felix down after being offered to them by Chelsea, which has resulted in him not getting back to Catalonia. The Portuguese forward completed the loan transfer to AC Milan during the recently concluded January transfer window. With this transfer, Felix has ended up featuring in four different clubs within three years. Furthermore, back-to-back transfers are harming his overall game.
The 25-year-old attacker departed Atletico Madrid in January 2023, and joined Chelsea on a six-month loan. Felix's trip to London was pretty complicated after attempting for at least 3.5 years to get to the next level in his career with Atletico Madrid under Diego Simeone. After completing the six-month loan move to Chelsea, he joined Barcelona on a loan in the summer of 2023. Felix in 44 games scored 10 goals with six assists while playing for Catalans in the last season.
Joao Felix was quite keen to remain with Barcelona, extend his loan move for 2024-25 season, however, the club wasn't convinced with his performances, resulting in him to going back to Madrid, who transferred him to Chelsea on a permanent move. After a handful of games for the London-based club in the first half of this season, Felix ended up signing with AC Milan on loan.
Sense of relief for Atletico Madrid and Barcelona
When Chelsea signed Joao Felix in the summer of 2024, there was a sense of relief for Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. The Diario Sport reports that, super-agent Jorge Mendes contacted Barcelona leaders about singing Felix on a permanent deal.
However, Barcelona showed little interest in loaning Felix, as Hansi Flick intends to move in a different path, with Felix symbolising Barcelona's recent lack of value in the transfer market. As per experts, the best for Felix right now is to play every week, which is possible at AC Milan, the Italian club with whom he is now on loan. It is important to know that the loan move of Felix does not include any purchase clause, which means he will be back to Chelsea in June.
