Vinicius Jr, the Real Madrid superstar, was a victim of alleged racial abuse once again in Spain, during the El Clasico against Barcelona in La Liga, at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, on Sunday, October 28. In the aftermath of the matter, Barcelona released a statement in which they talked about investigating “any racist insult that may have occurred” to the Brazilian footballer.
Notably, the latest edition of El Clasico was won by Real Madrid with a margin of 2-1, thanks to the brace from Jude Bellingham, who is considered one of the best footballers in the world today. The Englishman scored the winner in the second half of added time, slotting the ball inside the net from close range, after receiving a pass from Luka Modric.

Following the goal from Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti made a substitution, taking off Vinicius Jr as a tactical move to keep the lead intact, and it was at this moment, that he allegedly got racially abused. In the post-match chat, Ancelotti talked about the moment of taking off Vinicius Jr, when he was celebrating the preceding goal, and said, “He came off very calmly, I told him he had to come off a bit quicker... I helped him off.”
The statement from Barcelona about the alleged racial abuse of Vinicius Jr, which was sent out on X, read, “FC Barcelona will always defend the values of football and sport such as respect for the opponent and we will investigate any racist insult that may have occurred this afternoon during the match against Real Madrid.”
La Liga’s statement read, “La Liga has been working from the outset to identify the individuals involved in making racist insults and will file the relevant charges as is always the case.”
