Spotify Camp Nou is the home stadium of the La Liga champions FC Barcelona. The stadium is currently undergoing renovation as the club is planning to increase the seating capacity to 105,000. If all the things go according to the plan, the Spotify Camp Nou will become the largest stadium in terms of seating capacity in Spain and Europe, and the third largest association football stadium in the world. The stadium went into renovation after the end of the 2022–2023 season. The final completion of all renovations is scheduled for June 2026, with Barcelona initially set to return to action on August 10.
However, according to the latest developments, FC Barcelona have delayed their return to the Spotify Camp Nou due to complying with the requirements of the Ordinance Regulating Municipal Intervention Procedures. Barcelona were initially set to return to the new stadium on August 10 for the Joan Gamper Trophy but have stated that the match against Serie A team FC Como will now be played at Johan Cruyff Stadium. They will have to suspend the first match at Camp Nou as due to the extensive work being completed, meeting the regulations for the first occupancy license proved impossible, despite the club’s desire to open sections of the stadium.
FC Barcelona are yet to confirm new return dates for playing at Spotify Camp Nou
With the stadium reopening being delayed multiple times now, they are still under talks to confirm the final dates. FC Barcelona were earlier determined to return to Camp Nou in November 2024 for the club’s 125th anniversary but it wasn't possible due to various reasons. The club has now stated, “Specifically, due to the scale of the work carried out, it has not been possible to meet all the conditions laid out by the regulations governing this license, despite the club’s intention to reopen the redeveloped stadium sector by sector.”
However, the club is now working closely with the relevant authorities and will soon inform their members and fans about any updates on the return date of the team to Spotify Camp Nou.
