In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the batters have carried on from where they left off last season, smashing the bowlers at will at times, especially in the powerplay and death overs. Some of the top batters in the history of the IPL have once again showed their mettle in the 2025 season, not only scoring runs consistently, but also striking it better than their career numbers, taking their cricket to the whole new level in T20s.
In this article, SportsTiger looks at the five batters who could end up winning the Orange Cap in the IPL 2025.
5 bowlers who could win Purple Cap in IPL 2025
Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli started slowly in the IPL 2025 while opening the batting for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), but in the recent matches, he has managed to score runs at his optimum consistency, finding himself firmly involved in the battle for the Orange Cap. The fortunes of RCB have been quite similar to how Virat Kohli has played in the IPL, and both are on an upward trend, and it seems as though they won’t be stopped anytime soon.
Sai Sudharsan
Sai Sudharsan is a left-handed opening batter playing for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2025, and he has come of age in the last couple of years as a T20 player. In the ongoing edition of the IPL, the 23-year-old has been exceptional with the bat at the top of the order, continuing to dominate the pacers and spinners alike, which makes him one of the candidates for Orange Cap, especially with GT playing well as a team too.
KL Rahul
KL Rahul has managed to take his strike-rate to its highest level in the IPL 2025 season in comparison to the last six years in the league, and at the same time, he hasn’t lost his ability to be a consistent run-scorer for Delhi Capitals (DC). With that, there is a good chance that the wicketkeeper batter ends up becoming the holder of the Orange Cap at the end of the season since DC are firmly in the hunt for a top four finish.
Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler wasn’t retained by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the build-up to the IPL 2025, ending their six-year association in the process, but his arrival to GT hasn’t changed his high-scoring ways. The English wicketkeeper batter has managed to put consistent scores on the board as the number three batter for his new franchise, playing a great role in their ascend in the ongoing IPL season.
Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav has been in ominous form with the bat in the IPL 2025, not only scoring runs consistently, but also doing it at a higher strike-rate in the middle overs against the spinners and pacers when the field is spread out. With his ability to outmanoeuvre the fields regardless of where the bowlers pitch the ball or lack thereof, the right-handed batter has been able to make a telling difference in MI colours this year.
