BCCI in its statement further announced a reward for the team along with the members of the support staff for this historic feat. "To honour this remarkable achievement, the BCCI has announced a cash award of Rs 5 crore for the winning team and support staff under the leadership of Head Coach Nushin Al Khadeer," the statement added. Apart from this, BCCI President and former India cricketer Roger Binny also congratulated the team and the support staff, adding, “Congratulations to our girls for retaining the U19 Women’s World Cup. It has been an exemplary campaign wherein they’ve remained unbeaten throughout.”
"We spoke about their performances at the Naman Awards last night, and today they have made us all proud. This trophy reflects the growth of women’s cricket in India, and I’m extremely delighted to see each member shine in this tournament. I once again would like to congratulate the entire team, coaches and support staff for a fantastic show,” Roger Binny said in an official release.
Speaking of the summit clash, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the Indian bowlers had some other plans as the trio of left-arm spinners including Parunika Sisodia, Vaishnavi Sharma and Ayushi Shukla didn’t let them settle, picking six wickets while the Proteas added 38 runs. G. Trisha once again starred, ending with figures of 3/15 and the Kayla Reyneke-led side were restricted to 82/10 in 20 overs.
On the other hand, Gongadi Trisha played an unbeaten knock of 44 off 33 deliveries, to power India to victory in just 11.2 overs. Shanika Chalke also played a crucial knock of 22-ball 26* during their run-chase.
