After India’s terrible performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, BCCI came up with stern protocols to get effective results. One of the guidelines that attracted a lot of attention was against players’ family members accompanying the team. Families are allowed to be with the team only for 15 days if a tour lasts for 45 days or more. BCCI’s 10-point diktat prohibited Indian players’ families from travelling with the team during the Champions Trophy 2025 matches.

With India reaching Dubai for the colossal 50-over tournament, the BCCI’s travel policy came into effect but days before the start of India’s campaign, sources claim the board has softened its stand and will allow families to attend one game during the competition. As the Champions Trophy will be played for less than three weeks, the board has shown leniency eventually. Previously, the BCCI also came with a rule that bound central-contracted players to participate in tournaments such as Ranji Trophy. Illustrious names such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were seen serving their domestic sides Delhi and Mumbai respectively in the ongoing 2024-25 Ranji Trophy.

Team India gears up for opening clash against Bangladesh

Team India are all set to take on Bangladesh in their opening match against Bangladesh at the iconic Dubai International Stadium and kick off their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. Captain Rohit Sharma will be expected to be at his best with both captaincy and batting to help the team replicate their 2013 performance and bring the coveted trophy back home.

Following the Bangla challenge, India will be clashing against their arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23. India haven’t lost any ODI game against Pakistan after their 180-run defeat at the hands of the Men in Green in the last Champions Trophy final held at the Oval. Back in September 2018, India faced Pakistan twice in the Asia Cup 2018 at the Dubai International Stadium and got success in both matches, followed by the 2019 ODI World Cup clash in Stretford.
