In a recent development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sacked the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee after India's exit in the T20 World Cup 2022 from the semifinal round. Rohit Sharma & his boys lost to England by 10 wickets in an embarrassing manner to crash out of the tournament.

The news was confirmed after the BCCI invited applications for the post of India's national selector after firing Sharma.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invites applications for the position of National Selectors (Senior Men)," an official statement in their press release read.

Other reports also suggest that the new selection committee may formally announce a new split-captaincy approach. If this indeed materialises then Rohit Sharma is likely to remain the captain in Test matches and ODIs but might have to vacate the spot for Hardik Pandya in the shortest format.

It is further being claimed that the Hitman might have also played his last T20I with the team now looking at fresh faces with the next T20 World Cup in 2024.
