The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has presented 15 venues for the upcoming 50-over ICC World Cup scheduled to take place in India. The marquee tournament returns to India after 12 years where the Men in Blue ended their 28-year draught to win the elusive title at home. 


As per recent reports, BCCI secretary Jay Shah expressed that the schedule for the 2023 World Cup will be disclosed during the World Test Championship final at the Oval between India and Australia which take kicks off on June 7 2023. Further reports add the board has created a list of the possible venues across India for the tournament. But the final list of venues will be shared with the ICC soon.


Shah was quoted by Cricinfo during a media briefing after the BCCI's special general meeting in Ahmedabad. The ten-team World Cup is scheduled to be played between October 5 and November 19 but the BCCI hasn’t yet finalised the schedule, with just about four months left for the start of the event.


The marquee tournament will include 48 matches with three knockout games which will take place over 46 days. Along with Ahmedabad, the original shortlist included Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot and Mumbai and Trivandrum.  While reports add that Nagpur and Pune are also under consideration. The league matches of the World Cup would be hosted across 10 cities. While two more venues will be used to host the warm-up fixtures before the main tournament.
