Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant had recently undergone knee surgery which is set to sideline him for eight to nine months. The 25-year-old was airlifted from Dehradun’s Max hospital to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in order to go through his surgery.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India assured that the cricket’s apex body will take care of Pant’s recovery and will cover all his treatment expenses.

In a fresh development, it has been reported that BCCI will also be footing Pant's full IPL salary, which is worth Rs. 16 crores, as the Delhi Capitals skipper is most likely to miss the entire tournament. Similarly, BCCI will also pay Pant’s centrally contracted salary.

Notably, Pant suffered two tears on his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL). Pant was operated by BCCI's Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Reportedly, his progress and rehab will be monitored by Dr Pardiwala.

Pant escaped the horrific accident and successfully completed his surgery. The wicketkeeper batter will now miss the entire 2023 calendar comprising Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023, Asia Cup (September) and Cricket World Cup 2023 (October-November).

On December 30, around 5:30 am, Pant, 25, suffered multiple injuries when his car collided with a road divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.  The horrific car accident happened between Manglaur and Narsan in the Haridwar district in the state of Uttarakhand.
