Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar scolded the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium for booing Mumb ai Indians captain Hardik Pandya before the game against the Rajasthan Royals. The Indian all-rounder has been a point of criticism ever since he rejoined the Mumbai Indians in a trade from Gujarat Titans.
The scrutiny rose when Pandya was named the captain of the Mumbai Indians, replacing Rohit Sharma who led the franchise to five IPL title wins. Fans have been at Hardik Pandya with constant 'Boos' in every stadium MI have played and the trend continued in Wankhede.

Hence at the toss, as Sanjay Manjrekar welcomed Pandya and RR captain Sanju Samson, the MI skipper was greeted by a roar of boos. Here Manjrekar was heard saying, "Big round of applause to Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya and behave"

Speaking at the toss, Hardik Pandya spoke about how the team wanted to bowl first. He then spoke about how the team will be looking to play a brand of cricket that everyone enjoys. He said, "We were planning to bowl first. It's quite exciting to be a part of this game. We always look forward to the future, need to follow the process. Looking forward to playing a brand of cricket everyone enjoys. Playing the same team."
