Bengaluru FC has acquired the services of Fiji international striker Roy Krishna, for a two-year deal, the second of which is an optional extension set to run through until 2024, the club announced on Monday. Krishna, who has the most goals and appearances for his country, has previously played for ATK FC and ATK Mohun Bagan in the Indian Super League.

Responding to the development, Roy Krishna said that he is pretty excited over his new association and claimed that he will make an impactful appearances at the club. He further informed that Bengaluru FC's head coach Simon Grayson assured him that he will have a good run at the club.

"I am really excited to join Bengaluru FC. I had conversations with the coach (Simon Grayson) when I was in the early stages of negotiations and convinced me that I would have an impact at the club. I’ve always admired the way Bengaluru played and organized itself over the years that I’ve played in India," Roy Krishna said.

Club's director Parth Jindal has admitted that the club was closely watching the development and were eager to rope in Roy. "There were a hosts of clubs within the League and outside who were in the running to secure his services. "I am delighted that we were able to get this over the line,” Parth said.

In his past three seasons in the ISL, Krishna has 36 goals and 18 assists as he has been joint top-scorer in the League twice; in 2019-20 with 15 goals as he guided ATK to life the ISL trophy and in 2020-21 with 14 goals, as ATK Mohun Bagan reached the summit-clash.

Roy Krishna appeared for Fiji at the U20 and U23 levels, before debuting for the senior national team at the 2007 South Pacific games. His opening goal against Mexico at the 2016 Rio Olympics is Fiji's first and only goal at Olympic games. With 31 goals in 45 appearances, Krishna leads the charts for goals and appearances for his country.
