Middle Order: Shane Watson, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni (c/wk)
Shane Watson had a successful career under the leadership of MS Dhoni during his four-year stint with the Yellow Army. Watson joined the franchise in the later stage of his career and played a key role in guiding the side to their first win after their comeback in 2018. He played 43 matches, where he scored 1252 runs with an average of 30.53 and a strike rate of 136.83.
Suresh Raina is another key player who played a significant role in the team’s success over the past years. CSK’s vice-captain played 176 matches, scoring 4687 runs including one century and 33 half-centuries. He averaged 32.32 and had a strike rate of 136.83. Apart from that, Raina was a top-class fielder.
Skipper and wicketkeeper MS Dhoni is the heart, mind, and soul of the Chennai-based franchise. The former India skipper has been associated with the side since the first year, and since then he has guided the team to five IPL wins, in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. In 2024, he will probably play his last IPL season with the franchise. Called Thala by the CSK fans, Dhoni played 220 matches and amassed 4508 runs at a strike rate of 137.48.
