Since the advent of video games, certain players have showcased to be better than the rest and compete with each other for supremacy. As video games became more accessible, we saw the foundation stone of modern esports. Further, with the rise in online gaming, the esports scene grew out of its reserved self into a global spectacle.

From the days of arcade games to competitive multiplayer titles like Quake, Street Fighter, Starcraft, Counter-Strike, League of Legends and more at the start of the millennium, several players have been pivotal in esports being considered a legitimate competitive contest at the world stage.

Looking across titles and various eras of esports, three names sprout up, who can be put in the conversation for the best esports player of all time title. Starting this debate,  Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund, Counter-Strike legend, of Sweden. The Ninjas in Pyjamas star has been the face of the world's most popular FPS with dominance growing with the development of the  title . From days C.S 1.6 to the recent CS: GO,  GeT_RiGhT has managed to dominate the scene as one of its most versatile players. 

From Counter-Strike to other Valve title, Dota 2 , we have  Johan “n0tail” Sundstein. The Danish superstar has  the highest player earnings in esports as he has won over $7 million in prize money in his career. From starting in   Heroes of Newerth (HoN) and then migrating to  Dota 2,  n0tail's journey got off to a turbulent start.

The Dane was left out of his team which pushed him to start his Org with his best friend  Tal “Fly” Aizik. The duo started OG which also had its fair share of problems until  n0tail found his perfect roster and led them to two consecutive TI wins. These historic titles made n0tail the player with the highest earnings in all of esports and cemented his place as an all-time esports great.

But pipping the legends like  n0tail and  GeT_RiGhT,  League of Legends presents us with  Lee 'Faker' Sang-hyeok, the  best player ever in the largest and most competitive esport in history, who can be considered as b est esports player in the world.  He’s one of only two LoL players to win three World titles alongside his former teammate Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong.   Faker has won six domestic titles since entering the scene, three of those were historic a three-peat. 

He has taken home every international tournament in the League, like the IEM, All-Stars, the Mid-Season Invitational, and the World Championship.  He’s the only esports player to grace the cover of ESPN’s Magazine and has earned more prize money than any other LoL player by far which certainly makes him the  best esports player in the world.
