The Grind is a pre-Battlegrounds India Series exhibition game that is officially sanctioned and has a prize pool for invited teams. The invited teams are divided into several groups and will compete for the cash prizes.
This season, in addition to BGMI Tier 1 teams, underdog teams that performed well in the BGIS 2021 and proceeded to rounds 2, 3, and 4 were reportedly also invited to The Grind. A total of 256 teams are expected to register in The Grind event. The first 123 teams out of that will compete in the first week of the competition.

What is the format for ‘The Grind’?
Two groups of 128 teams each will be formed from the 256 total teams. The first week will feature the first 128 teams, while the third week will feature 64 teams who qualify further. In the second week, the remaining 128 teams will compete, and in the fourth week, 64 teams will advance. The 64 eligible teams will compete in the third week, with half of them being eliminated and half moving on to the fifth week. The fourth week will follow a similar format, and the fifth week will include the final 64 teams which will proceed to the grand stage of BGIS.
