Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 50 runs to kick off their campaign at IPL 2023 in style. The hosts put on a clinical show at the Ekana Stadium to leave the home crowd pleased. While Kyle Mayers stole the show with the bat in hand, Mark Wood was the star for the Super Giants with the ball. The England pacer took a five-wicket haul to derail DC’s chase.
Wood struck the first blow for LSG as he rushed through Prithvi Shaw’s defence. A couple of balls later, the English paceman stunned Mitchell Marsh with his raw pace. While DC captain, David Warner kept them alive in the chase with a fighting knock of 56 (48), he got little support from others. The second highest score was 30 by Rilee Rossouw.
