Team India have started their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign on a high. The Rohit Sharma-led team beat Pakistan in their opening fixture at the showpiece event. They then eased past the Netherlands in their second match to almost secure a semifinal berth for themselves. The Men in Blue have put on terrific performances so far to yield results for the team.
Barring KL Rahul, everyone has chipped in with a handy performance. With the team winning, captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid have refrained from making any changes to the eleven. However, with Rahul struggling, there are a few talks of including Rishabh Pant here and there. But it’s unlikely that Pant will be included in the playing XI as indicated by batting coach Vikram Rathour.
Nevertheless, none can stop the fans from saying what they want to. As Pant has struggled playing in the middle order, former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer had suggested that the wicketkeeper-batter should open the innings instead of playing down the order. Echoing the same thought, a fan suggested Pant to open for India claiming it would change his fate.
As the cricketer was taking selfies with his fans ahead of India’s match against South Africa, a fan was heard saying, “Bhai opening kar lo, kismat badal jayegi.” To this, Pant just smiled and went past.

It is to be seen if Pant gets a chance in the playing XI against South Africa. Nevertheless, what’s more important is India’s performance against South Africa. India have won two games so far but the batters were not really tested in these two games. Although Pakistan have a good pace attack, they could not trouble the batters throughout the innings. Netherlands bowlers did put in some effort but it was not troubling worthy for India.
Meanwhile, South Africa have quality bowlers who can create problems throughout the innings on the bouncy Perth wicket.
