The Botswana cricket team has arrived in Bengaluru, India, in preparation for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers, which is set to take place in Harare, Zimbabwe, next month. Botswana, whose cricket team is also known as the Baggy Blues, are set to play six T20 warm-up matches to prepare themselves for the all-important tournament. Botswana have made this trip to Bengaluru so that they can train at the facilities of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
This camp is set to include competitive T20 matches and net practice sessions. This camp was organised by the Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) in collaboration with the Karnataka State Cricket Association. The BCA thanked the Indian High commissioner Bharath Kumar Kuthati for his support towards making this camp happen and stated that it was only possible due to him.
Botswana women's cricket team were previously provided training in KSCA facilities in 2023
Before their departure to India, the President of the Botswana National Olympic Committee, Col. Botsang Tsenhyego, gave the men’s cricket team a very heart-warming send-off. He urged the players to stay motivated and perform at their high levels, apart from playing their role in motivating the youngsters in Botswana to take up the sport of cricket. Botsang was also seen encouraging the squad and urging them to replicate the success of the rising men's tennis team of Botswana in Davis Cup.
Before this, the Botswana women's cricket team were provided to train at the facilities of KSCA in Bengaluru for two weeks in the year 2023. The women's team were provided the training under the KSCA coaches, to further learn something unexplored about the game. Just like them, the Botswana men’s cricket team will look to make the most out of these two weeks in Bengaluru, train and perform well so that they are ready for the T20 World Cup African qualifiers in Harare next month.
