Brentford’s forward Bryan Mbeumo is set to become Manchester United’s latest signing of the ongoing summer transfer window. After working on a deal for a better part of two months, Manchester United's third bid of £65 million-plus six million in add-ons for the Cameroon international has been accepted by Brentford. Earlier, United snapped up Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha and Paraguay’s left-back Diego Leon.

Bryan Mbeumo put up his best performance in the 2024-25 Premier League, notching up 20 goals in 39 outings for Brentford. He also assisted seven times to help his side score in the league edition. Mbeumo, who has been part of Mbeumo since 2019, is all set to become Brentford's biggest ever sale. In his six-year stint with Bees, he has scored 65 goals in 222 matches.

Talking about the deal, there are reports that Brentford earlier rejected a couple of offers linked to the Cameroon player from Manchester United. Mbeumo expressed his intention to join United for over a month and noting his tenacity, the club are reported to have been influenced. Earlier, this week, the France-born player returned to Brentford’s pre-season training session with Yoane Wissa, whose future is uncertain with the English club. If the 25-year-old joins United, he will be expected to justify his role in the side. Compared to Brentford, United have a larger fanbase and his role will be to play competitive football in the distinguished club.

Bryan Mbeumo’s exit might affect Newcastle’s search for a striker

If United complete the deal, it could affect Newcastle’s pursuit for a striker. Newcastle wanted to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike. However, the French player is now looking to stitch a contract with Liverpool. Following this development, the Magpies showed interest in Mbuemo’s Brentford colleague Wissa.

However, if Mbeumo exits Brentford, it’s highly likely that the club might not sell Wissa as they will lose a couple of attacking players. Newcastle have shown keen interest in getting Wissa this week, following Ekitike’s intention to be part of Liverpool.
