Brentford have confirmed the signing of forward Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth in a club record deal, which is reportedly worth up to £42.5 million, to bolster their attacking depth for the ongoing 2025-26 season across all competitions. It is understood that the 23-year-old, who hails from Burkina Faso, has joined Brentford on a five-year contract, which can be extended to another year.
Notably, Dango Ouattara scored nine goals in 37 matches across all competitions for Bournemouth last season, improving his stature amongst the top forwards in English football. After making 18 goal contributions for his previous club in 81 matches in the top-flight, at Brentford, he is expected to fill the shoes of Bryan Mbeumo, who made the move to Manchester United in the ongoing summer transfer window.
We liked his Premier League experience, even at his young age: Keith Andrews on Dango Ouattara
Keith Andrews, the manager of Brentford, spoke at length about the arrival of Dango Ouattara, stating that he is really happy to have him here. He was quoted as saying to the club website, “He's (Dango Ouattara) someone that we were aware and surprised could be available and, once we knew that signing him might be a possibility, we really focused on trying to get him.”
“We liked his Premier League experience, even at his young age, and he just hasn't found the rhythm yet because of a lack of consistent game time,” he added.
With the signing of Dango Ouattara, Brentford might allow striker Yoane Wissa to leave the club shortly after rejecting Newcastle United’s £25m plus £5m in add-ons bid for the latter. Andrews also said in the pre-match press conference that Wissa won’t be playing for Brentford in their Premier League opener at Nottingham Forest on Sunday, August 17.
