On April 8, the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are hosting Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in a one-off double-header Tuesday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After winning the toss, KKR invited LSG to put the score first on the board. On the back of a 99-run stand for the opening wicket between Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh and crucial knock from Nicholas Pooran, PSK posted 238 runs.

In the second innings during the 239-run target, Akash Deep got the first blood as he dismissed Quinton de Kock. It was Delhi-boy Digvesh Rathi who then got his idol, Sunil Narine, leaving the defending champions reeling at 91/2 after 6.2 overs. With this wicket, Digvesh Rathi once again brought back his notebook celebration, but added a different touch to it.

By the time IPL will get over, I am not sure if Digvesh will have any money left from IPL salary: Ambati Rayudu

Bowling his first over in the ongoing match, Digvesh Rathi bowled a googly on a full length outside off. Narine, who was looking good having scored 30 off 13 deliveries, threw his bat, but miscued as Aiden Markram got a sliding catch at long-off. Soon afterwards, the Delhi bowler brought back his notebook celebration.

Seeing this, former India and CSK batter Ambati Rayudu, who is part of the commentary panel hit out at the 25-year-old and his IPL pay. Speaking on the show, Rayudu said, “ By the time IPL will get over, I am not sure if Digvesh will have any money left from IPL salary”.

It is to be noted that Rathi was signed by the Lucknow-based franchise for INR 30 Lakh. The 25-year-old brought his first celebration in match against Punjab Kings after picking the wicket of Priyansh Arya. He emulated the celebration in LSG’s match against Mumbai Indians and fined 50 per cent of his match fees for the breach, along with getting two demerit points.
