Delhi Capitals have won only four out of eleven games in this IPL tournament and currently stay at the bottom of the points table. Delhi faced a setback in this IPL season due to a lack of consistent performance from their side. DC is on the verge of getting eliminated from the IPL 2023 playoff race after being in the tenth position of the table.
Does Delhi have a chance to enter playoffs despite losing seven matches overall? Here in this article, we will have answers to those questions.
For the best case, we assume Delhi win all their remaining four matches and reach 14 points by the end of this tournament.
DC remaining schedule:
vs PBKS in Delhi (13 May 2023)
vs PBKS in Dharamsala (17 May 2023)
vs CSK in Delhi (20 May 2023)
Current points table scenario:
GT - 8 wins (11 games)
CSK - 7 wins (12 games - 1 No Result)
MI - 6 wins (11 games)
LSG - 5 wins (11 games - 1 No Result)
RR - 5 wins (11 games)
KKR - 5 wins (11 games)
RCB - 5 wins (11 games)
PBKS - 5 wins (11 games)
SRH - 4 wins (10 games)
DC - 4 wins (11 games)
DC can qualify easily if six other teams get lesser than 14 points in IPL 2023. If DC wins all their remaining matches, PBKS will lose two more games.
Two more losses for PBKS would ensure they end up at 12 points in the table, so they stand eliminated from IPL 2023 playoffs race.
We need five more teams with PBKS to get eliminated from the playoffs race. Looking at the points table, we have chosen SRH, RCB, KKR, RR, and LSG as the five teams since they are at a lower position in the points table.
1. Remaining games of SRH in IPL 2023:
vs LSG in Hyderabad (13 May 2023)
vs GT in Ahmedabad (15 May 2023)
vs RCB in Hyderabad (18 May 2023)
vs MI in Mumbai (21 May 2023)
SRH must lose two more games to either of the teams (LSG, GT, RCB, or MI).
As per the above scenario, it will be better if SRH manages to beat RCB & LSG in the upcoming games since RCB and LSG will lose one more game and help the cause for DC.
SRH should lose two more games against GT and MI to get eliminated with 12 points from the table.
2. Remaining games of RCB in IPL 2023:
vs RR in Jaipur, 14th May
vs SRH in Hyderabad, 18th May
vs GT in Bengaluru, 21st May
RCB must lose two more games to either of these teams (RR, SRH & GT).
As per the above scenario, it will be better if RCB manages to beat RR in the upcoming games since RR will lose one more game and help the cause for DC.
RCB should lose two more games against SRH and GT to get eliminated with 12 points from the table.
3. Remaining games of KKR in IPL 2023:
vs RR in Kolkata (11 May 2023)
vs CSK in Chennai (14 May 2023)
vs LSG in Kolkata (20 May 2023)
KKR must lose two more games to either of these three teams (RR, CSK & LSG).
As per the above scenario, it will be better if KKR manages to beat RR in the upcoming match since RR gets eliminated from the playoffs race as they lose two more games against RCB and KKR.
KKR should lose two more matches against CSK and LSG to get eliminated from IPL 2023 playoffs race with six wins.
4. Remaining games of LSG in IPL 2023:
vs SRH in Hyderabad, 13th May
vs MI in Lucknow, 16th May
vs KKR in Kolkata, 20th May
As per the above scenario, LSG will lose to SRH and beat KKR in the upcoming games.
LSG should lose one more match against MI, so they end up at 13 points in the table and help DC to go ahead with 14 points for playoffs.
If all this happens - PBKS, SRH, RCB, KKR, RR & LSG will be eliminated from the playoffs race in IPL 2023.
Thus, six teams get eliminated if all the above scenario happens, and DC can qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs with 14 points.
