Star Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc hailed the depth of talent in the Indian Cricket Team and said that India can play with three different teams in Tests, ODIs and T20I respectively at once. His comments came after India’s recent Champions Trophy 2025 win in Dubai. The left-arm pacer said that India can play a Test match against Australia, ODI against England and a T20I against South Africa on a same day.
Mitchell Starc will be seen playing for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. He missed the recently ended Champions Trophy due to personal reasons. “I think they (India) are probably the only nation that can have a Test team, a one-day team, and a T20 team play on the same day against Australia in the Test, England in the one-dayer, and South Africa in the T20I; and India will be competitive,” Starc said while speaking in a show at the YouTube channel named FanaticsTV.
Indian guys can only play in the IPL: Mitchell Starc on India getting advantage due to IPL
Speaking further, Mitchell Starc also have his opinions on whether the Indian players advantage of the IPL in the ICC tournaments. The two-time ODI World Cup winner said that the Indian players don’t get a chance to play in the other league other the IPL. “I am not sure if it’s an advantage because as cricketers we have got these opportunities to play all franchise (cricket) around the world (but) the Indian guys can only play in the IPL," Starc said.
“Obviously, it’s the number one product, has got all the Indians playing, and so much influx of international talent. It’s at the top. There’s no doubt that it’s a huge tournament… But I don’t think you can just sit on that because you have guys (players around the world) that play 5-6 different franchise leagues a year, so they are still getting the exposure to world cricket,” he further added.
