Rodrygo's current situation at Real Madrid over the last few weeks is garnering some attention of football fans and pundits around the world. It was being reported that Rodrygo was unhappy with his current position and overall situation at the club, as he felt like he was playing second fiddle to the new-comers like Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham. The speculations were intensified even further when he was left out of the team squad for the match against Celta Vigo earlier and did not feature for a single minute in the latest El Clasico against Barcelona.

All of this was regarded to Rodrygo’s unstable relations with the club’s management in recent times and was seen as a concerning situation by fans. However, in his latest pre-match press conference, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti clarified that none of these rumours were true and the real reason for Rodygo’s absence was due to his fitness. He said, “Rodrygo has discomfort in his leg. He’s sad for that, but there’s really nothing more. He had fever and didn’t train last week so he wasn’t fit. He felt uncomfortable and we wanted to look at it.”

Arsenal seems to be closely monitoring Rodrygo’s situation at Madrid

Rodrygo’s situation turned off some alarm bells across Europe as multiple clubs started to monitor his situation in hopes of possibly signing the young Brazilian if he decides to part ways with Madrid. Arsenal seems to be leading the race in trying to get Rodrygo’s signature as Mikel Arteta has been really keen on bolstering his squad especially after the current season’s debacles in the Champions League and Premier League title race.

Having already signed Martin Zubimendi, Arsenal is also eyeing players to improve its squad depth in the attacking department after facing major setback in this season due to the injury absences of Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka. With Xabi Alonso set to takeover at Real Madrid soon, it will be interesting to see whether Rodrygo continues to play in Spain or decides to start a new chapter in his career.
