Real Madrid already seems to be preparing for the next season after a rather underwhelming display in the current one. With a change in the management figure at the club after the exit of Carlo Ancelotti and the arrival of Xabi Alonso, it is now being reported that strengthening the defensive department is considered to be one of the top-most priorities. And in such a scenario, Bournemouth’s young centre-back Dean Huijsen seems to be making the headlines with multiple top European clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid eyeing to sign the youngster.

The 20-year-old Spanish defender has had a brilliant season under Andoni Iraola with Bournemouth and was called up De La Fuente for the Spanish national team debut to replace injured Inigo Martinez earlier. His consistent solidity at the heart of the defence has led to top clubs being interested in the Spaniard. Madrid’s to-be manager Xabi Alonso is said to be in talks with the young player himself in order to agree on personal terms as the 20-year-old is keen to play for Los Blancos. However, PL clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be working on trying to activate the player’s reported 50-million-euro release clause in attempts to convince him to join their side.

William Saliba, Ibrahim Konate also on Real Madrid’s transfer radar: Reports

Huijsen seems to be only one of the many options that Real Madrid is evaluating to strengthen their defensive department. Other names being linked to the Spanish outfit are Arsenal’s William Saliba and Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate. Arsenal have repeatedly voiced that they do not wish to sell Saliba and are in fact looking to sign a longer deal with the centre-back, in order to display his commitment towards Arteta’s project.

In all cases, Madrid is expected to sign at least one new centre-back in this upcoming summer transfer window. With Trent Alexander Arnold already added to Madrid’s squad for next season, the Galacticos are looking to further solidify their squad and compete again at the highest levels in all competitions.
