Carlo Ancelotti, the Real Madrid manager, is confirmed to leave the Spanish giants at the conclusion of the ongoing 2024-25 season, leaving a lasting legacy on the club. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said that the 65-year-old will join their men’s national team as new head coach, officially taking charge of the side on May 26 after the conclusion of the La Liga campaign with Real Madrid.
Notably, during his time at Real Madrid, serving them on two separate occasions, Carlo Ancelotti won 15 trophies with them, including the coveted La Liga and the UEFA Champions League (UCL) double last season. The exit of the Italian from Real Madrid comes on the heels of their 4-3 loss against Barcelona in La Liga away from home, losing considerable ground to the arch-rivals in the battle of the title with just a couple of weeks remaining in the season.
We warmly welcome Mr Ancelotti and looks forward to a new era of success: CBF
Real Madrid lost their fourth straight El Clasico against Barcelona this season, putting themselves in a precarious position in regards to potentially not winning a major trophy for the first time in four years. The official statement from the CBF read, “This landmark moment sees the coming together of two icons — the only five-time Fifa World Cup champions, and a coach with an unmatched record across Europe's elite competitions.”
“The CBF warmly welcomes Mr Ancelotti and looks forward to a new era of success under his leadership,” they also wrote. At the same time, the CBF also thanked the Real Madrid President Florentino Perez for facilitating the release of coach during his contract term with them, and it is important to note that his current deal with the Galacticos were to continue till June 2026.
