The International Cricket Council (ICC) was supposed to host a meeting today on Thursday, December 5, in regards to deciding the fate of the Champions Trophy 2025, but it is being postponed for the next couple of days. Still, a short discussion on the matter did take place wherein the ICC told the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to accept the hybrid model once again, and the tournament hosts are set to respond with their final stance to them.

Notably, as per the report from India Today, the next ICC meeting on the deadlock surrounding the Champions Trophy 2025 will be taking place on Saturday, December 7. Earlier, the last virtual meeting on the matter, hosted by the ICC, went on for just around 20 minutes, but there was no progress made as PCB stayed adamant on not hosting the tournament as per the hybrid model after India decided to not travel to Pakistan to play.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the ICC Board members, the ICC team, and everyone: Jay Shah

Ahead of the meeting, Jay Shah, the newly elected ICC chairman, arrived at the Dubai headquarters earlier today, where he interacted with the staff and the media rights partners. He was quoted as saying in the press release, “I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the ICC Board members, the ICC team, and everyone who contributed to making my first day at the ICC Headquarters as Chair a truly memorable experience. This visit provided an invaluable opportunity to connect with my colleagues on the ICC Board, where we discussed the initial roadmap and strategies to shape the future of this incredible sport.”

Jay Shah also looked forward to taking cricket to the next level during his tenure as the ICC chairman, and said, “I was equally delighted to meet with the dedicated ICC team working tirelessly behind the scenes to propel cricket forward. Their passion and shared belief in the sport's immense potential are truly inspiring, as is their enthusiasm for the exciting opportunities ahead. Today has been both productive and inspiring. While I am encouraged by what I have seen, I recognise that this is just the beginning. The hard work to elevate cricket to unprecedented heights starts now, and I am confident that together, we will deliver on this vision.”
