Since its last edition in 2017, the ICC Champions Trophy is going to be back with its ninth edition, which will be held in Pakistan in February-March 2025. It is going to be the next big ICC event after the recently concluded 2024 T20 World Cup, which was held in the West Indies and the USA.
The Champions Trophy is also called the mini-World Cup as the top eight ODI teams compete against each other in this tournament. This time, the eight participating teams of the Champions Trophy 2025 are decided according to the points table of the 2023 ODI World Cup, held in India. The teams which finished among the top eight after the league stage, have qualified for the Champions Trophy 2025, along with the hosts Pakistan.
Throughout the years, we have seen different teams win the Champions Trophy with Australia being the most successful team with two titles in 2006 and 2009 respectively. The inaugural season of the Champions Trophy was won by South Africa in 1998, while the current champions are Pakistan, who won the last edition in 2017.
