In a big update, it has been confirmed that Charles Oliveira will return to the UFC octagon in May 2023. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter last featured at the UFC in October 2022 against Islam Makhachev. The 33-year-old however lost his bout to strap his lightweight title.
In the latest reports doing rounds, the Brazilian MMA player will square off against potential top contender Beneil Dariush. The news was confirmed by coach Diego Lima to MMA journalist Alvaro Colmenero.
“Diego Lima, Charles Oliveira’s manager and coach, confirmed to me that Oliveira will fight Beneil Dariush on May 6 at UFC 288”, Colmenero’s tweet translated.
The former UFC lightweight champion ended his 11-match winning streak after suffering a second-round submission loss. Meanwhile, Beneil Dariush is on a magnificent eight-fight winning streak after a dominant victory over Polish MMA fighter Mateusz Gamrot.
