According to reports, João Félix is close to joining AC Milan on a loan for £45m with no-buy option until the end of the season from Chelsea. The 25-year-old only joined Chelsea last summer for €52 million, but he has not appeared consistently under Enzo Maresca. Once the transfer process is completed, the Blues will get a £5 million loan fee, with no commitment for Milan acquiring the player in the summer. The 25-year-old Portugal international played for three Premier League games this season but appears frequently in Cup tournaments.
According to Fabrizio Romano, João Félix will be undergoing the medical examinations before heading to Milanello to start with the training session. João Félix and his father, Carlos Sequeira, recently arrived at Milan's exclusive Malpensa airport around 10 p.m. He went to Casa Milan to sign his contract and was greeted by Ibrahimović, Furlani, and Moncada. After that, he checked into the Melia Hotel, his first residence in Milan.
Joao Felix - The man for all small occasions for Chelsea
In early January, Felix had only two goals under his name against Morecambe in the FA Cup's third round. According to the Telegraph match report, the Portuguese international has become 'the man for the minor events' at Chelsea. It underlines Felix's tendency to start only against lower opposition in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Conference League when playing under manager Enzo Maresca.
One of the reasons behind his struggle is Cole Palmer's presence as a number ten. Additionally, another reason for the club to loan him out is the fact that Christopher Nkunku will not be joining Manchester United or Bayern Munich. He was previously loaned out to Chelsea and Barcelona while at Atletico, and he is looking forward to joining his third temporary home as he strives to achieve the potential he displayed when breaking through at Benfica.
At present, Félix isn't facing any fitness problems. Despite starting only three Premier League games this season, he has been training consistently. Speaking of his shirt number, both No. 79 and No. 18 are available at AC Milan.
