Chelsea recently came off a convincing 4-1 victory away from home against Djurgarden in the first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League semi-finals on May 1, 2025. Two important figures in Chelsea’s midfield were Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, with the latter providing two assists in the course of the match. And recent reports regarding the future of these two young midfielders is that Chelsea are not looking to offload either of the two players in the upcoming summer transfer window despite interest from multiple parties. It is understood that Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca considers them to be crucial parts of his project at Stamford Bridge.
Fernandez has been enjoying a good season with Chelsea after being signed for a record €121 million previously. With 19 G/A already in the current season, his performance in the current campaign is far better then that of a few previous seasons combined. Caicedo has also been enjoying a good run of form recently. With 5 G/A till date, his defensive solidity in the centre of the park has been instrumental for Chelsea this season.

Enzo Fernandez was previously linked to Real Madrid, who rated the Argentine midfielder highly and wanted to bring him to the club. But current reports suggest that Enzo Fernandez is unlikely to leave Chelsea with his current contract running on until 2032. Moises Caicedo as well had attracted interest from several Saudi Pro League clubs but will be staying at the club for a long-time, with his current contract running till 2031 too.
Talking about the match, Chelsea took a significant step toward the UEFA Europa Conference League final with a dominant 4-1 away victory over Djurgarden in the first leg of their semi-final clash. Jadon Sancho opened the scoring early with a deflected shot, and Noni Madueke doubled the lead just before halftime with a composed finish from an Enzo Fernandez assist. In the second half, substitute Nicolas Jackson punished Djurgården’s defensive lapses with two quick goals, effectively sealing the win. Djurgarden managed a consolation through Isak Mulugeta’s header in the 68th minute.
