Major League Soccer has become a hot topic in the United States since World Cup winner Lionel Messi joined David Beckham's Inter Miami this year. Many celebrities including the likes of Selena Gomez, and Leonardo DiCaprio among others were spotted attending Messi's match in the MLS, which triggered USMNT captain Christian Pulisic to take a cheeky dig at the celebrities.

Since Lionel Messi's arrival in Miami, the MLS club have yet to lose a game across all competitions as they have won 10 of their 11 games while one ended as a draw. During the MLS 2023 match between Los Angeles FC and Inter Miami on Sunday at the BMO Stadium, LAFC goalkeeper John McCarthy's block on Lionel Messi's goal attempt invoked a stunned reaction from actress and musician Selena Gomez and rapper Tyga.

After the game, MLS took to their official Instagram handle to post a reel showing the star-studded spectators in Los Angeles and captioned, "The typical star-studded treatment in Los Angeles. 🤩"

However, Pulisic was quick enough to mock the double standards of the U.S. celebrities, who attended Lionel Messi's MLS game, for not appearing at the national team's games. Pulisic shared the reel on his Instagram story and wrote, "Let them know they're invited to US national team games too," with a laughing emoji.

Lionel Messi will continue having a busy schedule since joining the American league as Argentina will face Ecuador in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers on Thursday ahead of Inter Miami's MLS 2023 game against Sporting Kansas City on September 9. On the other hand, the USMNT will face Uzbekistan, Oman, Germany, and Ghana in friendlies before they resume their CONCACAF Nations League campaign.
