The World Test Championship (WTC) has been a controversial topic of discussion ever since it became a proper league based tournament with a title clash. The debate over the two-tier WTC has reached a new height with multiple cricketing boards expected to come together for a meeting to state their side. The West Indies are one of the teams which are very unhappy with the idea of the introduction of the Two-tier WTC.

The West Indies Cricket board are looking to influence this decision as the chief executive of West Indies Chris Dehring stated that they have a role to play in this decision as they have a seat to put forward their reasons to the ICC who are responsible for making the decisions. The veteran West Indies cricketer expressed his concerns over the two-tier format and stated that the National team of West Indies are just two years of being in the second-tier for a hundred more years.

To me, it is not right. We have to stand up: Clive Lloyd

Clive Lloyd expressed his strong opinion that, “We have to look at what is happening at the ICC with the share out of the money. India, Australia and England get 180 million and West Indies will get 80 million like Bangladesh and Afghanistan, and we are just two years out of being in that group for 100 years". Clive felt that they were not being treated fairly as they also need big names like India and Australia for getting millions of people to the grounds.

The West Indies legend further added, “To me, it is not right. We have to stand up. We have to go to the ICC and ask for special dispensation. Because when we were in the ascendancy, and we were playing so well, everyone wanted to play with us.” Clive stated that the West Indies were the cash cows for a long period of time in the past and hopes that they are allotted the appropriate funds that are needed for them.
