English footballer Cole Palmer has reportedly applied to trademark his famous shivering celebration 'Cold Palmer'. Further reports suggest that the Chelsea midfielder wants to use this for selling products like alcohol, diet, drinks, food, clothes, toys, aftershave, cosmetics, razor blades, cars and more. With this, the 22-year-old could earn in million.
Notably, Cole Palmer has already sent an application to the Government's Intellectual Property Office including a video of him performing the cold celebration. However, he is not the first footballer to trademark his celebrations and seems to follow the footsteps of legendary footballers with the likes of Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Is Cole Palmer’s ‘Cold Celebration’ copied?
Cole Palmer first performed the ‘cold celebration’ after scoring a goal during Chelsea’s 3-2 win over Luton Town at the Premier League in December 2023. However, he was not the first footballer to perform this celebration as the reports suggest that he got this idea from his former Manchester Academy teammate Morgan Rogers, who plays for Aston Villa in the Premier League.
However, Morgan Rogers allowed Cole Palmer to call this celebration of his own because of his impressive goal scoring record. "I'll let him have it. He's scored 40 goals or something stupid. Can't really argue with that, can I?" Rogers said earlier in the season as quoted in MSN.
Cole Palmer was last seen in Chelsea's 4-3 win against Tottenham in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 8. He scored two goals in that fixture in the 61st minute and 84th minute respectively. Chelsea are now set to face Everton in their upcoming fixture in the Premier League at Goodison Park in Liverpool on December 22. Chelsea are placed second in the ongoing season with nine wins in 15 matches so far.
