Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather faced each other in a famous boxing match in 2017, which is the second highest-selling combat sports pay-per-view of all time. The Irish fighter always remained available for a boxing rematch after losing to the American boxing legend, which made him return to the UFC.

Reportedly, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are 'very close' to face each other in the boxing ring again as the Irish mixed martial artist indicated at a rematch on the social media by writing, "I accept". However, UFC president Dana White has washed off the rematch possibilities as he doesn't want Conor to face Mayweather again in the boxing ring.

Since his victory over McGregor, Mayweather has been fighting on the exhibition circuit and reports suggest that the Irish wants the rematch to happen only if the legendary boxer return for an official match instead of an exhibition.

In a report from the British newspaper The Sun, "Conor will only take the fight providing Floyd is willing to put his professional record on the line - so the fight will not be an exhibition, it will be an official fight. It will be at 155lb. That's what we know so far.

"It will be the last time Floyd ever steps in the ring so it is not one to miss. The deal is very close to being done. Personal terms have been agreed on both parties. It will be one final showdown. And yes records will be at stake."

The previous boxing duel between Conor and Floyd saw the boxer making $280 million after winning the match, while the MMA fighter earned $130 million in a losing cause.
