Two of the Indian veterans, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli might not be seen donning the India whites anymore, one is not clear when they might call off time from their ODI career. While the two announced retirement from T20Is after lifting the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean in 2024, their Test retirement came only last month, midway through the IPL 2025.

Having put down curtains on two of the formats, Cricket Australia is pondering to give a befitting farewell to the two stalwarts of Indian cricket when Australia hosts India later this year in the ODI series. However, this move by CA comes as speculations state that the two senior batters will end their international career after the 2027 ODI World Cup.

We wanna make sure we give them a great send-off: CA CEO Todd Greenberg on Rohit-Kohli

In a virtual interaction with IANS, Cricket Australia CEO, Todd Greenberg stated that with nothing much known of the duo’s future in international cricket, and thinking that the upcoming Australia tour could be their last, they would hope to give a “great send-off”. "This might be the last time that we get to see Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma play in our country. And if that is the case, who knows, it might not be, but if it is, we wanna make sure we give them a great send-off and a reflection of the incredible contribution they've made to international cricket," CA CEO said.

It is to be noted that India will tour Australia for a three-match ODI series from October 19 to 25 with a match each to be played in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney. The Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India will then play the Aussies in a five-match T20I series from October 29 till November 8.
