The Chennai Super Kings have been the most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League with 11 playoffs appearances and 4 title victories. The talented players like Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin shone brighter for them and replicated the same success with the Indian team as well.
Often called ‘Mr. IPL’, Suresh Raina served the Chennai Super Kings team since 2008. In a total of 205 matches in the Indian Premier League history, he amassed 5528 runs at an average of 32.52, including 39 half-centuries and a single century. But his performance in the 2021 edition was disappointing with only 160 runs in 12 appearances. The falling graph of his performances and the retirement from international cricket paved the way for the franchise not retaining him, and not picking him in the mega-auction as well.
In the Indian Premier League 2022, Suresh Raina is contracted with the Star Sports Hindi commentary panel and has been quite vocal about his thoughts on the CSK team. In the recent Instagram Live, Raina’s former teammate and present batter of CSK, Ambati Rayudu left a heartfelt comment for the southpaw.
Rayudu commented, “Miss u my man”, to let Raina know his feeling towards him. The middle-order batter, Rayudu has been playing in IPL since 2010. He joined the CSK team in 2018 and played a key part in the 2018 title trophy along with Suresh Raina to lift the trophy in the same edition. They played together for CSK for 4 years until the 2021 season and had a great bond of friendship between them.
A few days back, Suresh Raina expressed his feelings for the Chennai Super Kings team, as they faced the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2022 opener. He said, “As soon I passed the stadium coming on the show, I was wishing that I can quietly wear the yellow jersey and enter the stadium.”
