In the 25th match of the 2025 IPL, Chennai Super Kings took on the Kolkata Knight Riders at their home-turf Chepauk on 11th April. With fans anticipating a thrilling contest due to the return of MS Dhoni to CSK’s captaincy mantle due to Ruturaj Gaikwad’s injury, the reality turned out to be polar opposite as KKR handed a massive 8-wicket defeat to the home team with 59 balls to spare.
KKR seemed to nail the toss with their decision to bowl first paying back heavily as they dismantled the CSK lineup for just 103 runs in 20 overs. The victory comes as a much-needed boost for KKR as they are back on track after a loss in their previous match and will take on the Punjab Kings next. As for CSK, their poor form in this tournament continues as they are handed the fifth defeat of the season and remain towards the bottom of the points table. They will look to turn their fortunes around against LSG next.
