The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have bought a team based in Johannesburg in the inaugural T20 league of South Africa. Now, reports suggested that the CSK owned franchise is likely to be named as 'Joburg Super Kings'.

The South African T20 league franchise is also expected to feature some of the retired Indian cricketers who were former CSK players in the IPL. The Johannesburg based franchise are reportedly looking to appoint former New Zealand skipper and current CSK head coach Stephen Fleming as the head coach of the team.

While the franchise is still searching for a suitable name, Jozi Super Kings and Johannesburg Super Kings are two other names that are doing the rounds in many reports. However, it is a matter of time that the Johannesburg-based franchise will introduce their team as Joburg Super Kings.

The reports have also stated that the South African franchise will boast the same yellow theme as CSK. Apart from CSK owners, five more IPL franchise owners have bought the remaining five teams in the South African T20 league. The league is set to take place between January and February 2023.
