Ahead of IPL’s return to the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai Super Kings have announced a special partnership with Chennai Metro to improve the fan experience in the city. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Co will be hosting Lucknow Super Giants as CSK comes back to their fortress after three years.
Under this partnership, fans with tickets for the Chennai Super Kings’ home matches will be allowed travel in Metro free of cost. The commute will further be hassle-free as fans wouldn’t need to wait in queues with the QR/barcoded match tickets doubling up as travel tickets.

CMRL will also have a feeder bus service from the Government Estate Metro station to the MA Chidambaram stadium, saving time for fans. The Metro Rail services will further be extended by 90 minutes creating further convenience for fans.
Chennai Super Kings CEO K.S Viswanathan expressed excitement regarding this partnership and further requested fans to use these services to the fullest. He said: “Chennai Super Kings has always focussed on fans in all our initiatives. We are happy to partner with Chennai Metro for the IPL 2023 season to ensure that fans can travel hassle-free for Chennai Super Kings’ home matches. We encourage fans to use public transport and enjoy Chennai Super Kings matches in Chepauk.”
Similarly, Chennai Metro Rail Limited’s M.A. Siddique thanked CSK for promoting public transportation. He further expressed that CMRL is constantly working towards improving travel facilities for the public.
He said: “CMRL has always provided a safe, dependable, affordable and environmentally sustainable transportation system. CMRL is happy to collaborate with CSK to provide a very special arrangement to cricket fans that entitles them to travel in metro rail using IPL tickets. Kudos to CSK for participating in this initiative to promote public transport. Let us enjoy this IPL cricket season with Chennai Metro!”
