Twitter war between CWG 2022 bronze medallist Divya Kakran and Delhi government over wrestler's representation of Delhi is getting intense everyday. In a fresh development, Kakran has presented the certificate from Wrestling Federation of India stating that she represented Delhi in freestyle, Greco Roman style at the 19th Female Senior National Wrestling Championship held at Nandini Nagar, Gonda, Uttar Pradesh from October 23 to 25 2016, in the 63-kg weight category.

After returning to India from Birmingham, Divya Kakran was congratulated by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Twitter. In response she hit back and highlighted that she has not received any help and have not been awarded any money from the Delhi government despite representing the national capital at various stages.

In response to her tweet, AAP national spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj on Sunday had said that she has always represented Uttar Pradesh and he does not remember her playing for Delhi. He even posted pictures of news article which said that Divya Kakran represents Uttar Pradesh.

Amidst this Twitter spat between the young wrestler and Aam Aadmi Party, Delhi government officially issued a response stating that the Delhi government will surely look into the matter and if Divya Kakran has represented Delhi, or has applied for any such scheme, the state government will certainly look into the matter.

Notably, this is not the first time that Divya Kakran has targeted Delhi government but in 2018 when she bagged the bronze medal in Asian Games, Kakran had raised a similar issue and said that she did not get the support while training. Kakran had won a gold medal in the 2020 Asian Wrestling Championship. In the 2022 Commonwealth Games, 23-year-old Indian grappler clinched a bronze medal in the Women's Freestyle 68kg after defeating Tiger Lily Cocker Lemalie of Tongo.
