The time for the business end of the women's cricket competition is here. The two semifinals between the top two teams in each of the two pools will be played at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham and the first of it will see England up against India. Both sides were favourites for a podium finish right from the beginning of the competition and have dominated their way to the final four.
However, while India did stumble a little bit in their tournament opening match against Australia, England are unbeaten so far in the competition. Will the Three Lions manage to maintain their unbeaten run and their dream of the first ever gold medal in the Commonwealth Games or will India stop them from going further?
Before the game, here is a prediction of who will have the advantage in the key stages of the match and who might eventually emerge as a winner.
1. Toss Prediction
India Women have won just 1 of the 3 tosses at the Commonwealth Games 2022 so far. However, on the other hand, England Women have not won a single toss so far. So predicting India to win the toss in the first semifinal on Saturday.
2. Win Possibility
A look at the head-to-head numbers between these two teams suggests India stands very little chance against England in the latter's home conditions. The two sides have met each other a total of 22 times in the past and while the Three Lions have won 17 of these fixtures, the Indian team has just 5 wins. Going by this stat, England are predicted to win the match. Predictions not always come true though and hope this is one of those cases.
3. Team of the Day
The Team of the Day is England. They are the better T20I side than India. Apart from their superior net run rate, they are ranked second in the world behind Australia and the two look favourites to fittingly meet in the gold medal match at the Commonwealth Games.
4. Powerplay Score
49.13 is India's average powerplay score at the Commonwealth Games 2022. The number has been arrived after calculating India's powerplay in the Pakistan match to its 6-over equivalent, considering they scored at the same rate. Notably, the powerplay in that match was reduced to 5 overs due to rain in an 18-over per side contest. England, meanwhile, have an average powerplay score of 44.66. Both sides are expected to score over 40 in the first six overs.
5. Average Score
126.18 is the average first innings score that has been registered in this competition in all 20 over matches. All the matches have happened at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.
