
Indian athletes Sandeep Kumar and Amit represented India in the 10,000 metres race walk finals event at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Sandeep Kumar finished the race on the third place to secure a bronze medal for India in Birmingham on Sunday.
After leading the race for almost half of the distance, Indian race-walker Sandeep Kumar finished at the third spot after trailing behind Canada and Australia. Kumar clocked his personal best of 38:49.21 minutes while Evan Dunfee (38:36.37) of Canada and Declan Tingay (38:42.33) of Australia completed the race in the first and the second spot.
The other Indian race-walker, Amit Khatri finished ninth with a time of 43:04.97 on Sunday in the CWG 2022. Earlier, Priyanka Goswami won the silver medal for India in the women's 10,000 metres race-walk on Saturday by completing the race in 43:38.83 minutes.
Meanwhile, Indian triple jumpers Eldhose Paul and Abdulla Aboobacker made history by clinching gold and silver medal in men's triple jump event at the ongoing Birmingham Games on Sunday. This is the first time India secured two podium finishes in a triple jump event.
