Indian weightlifter Ajay Singh failed to lift 180kg in Men's 81kg event despite being in top-form in weightlifting. Singh started his 'Clean & Jerk' category with a bang as he lifted 172kg in his 1st attempt, followed by 176kg in 2nd attempt but failed to lift 180kg in his 3rd attempt.

Earlier, Ajay gave a glimpse of his top-form in 'Snatch' category as he successfully lifted 137kg, 140kg and 143kg in his 1st, 2nd and 3rd attempt respectively of the 'Snatch' category of Men's 81kg final contest on Monday (1 August).

While, Indian weightlifter made three successful attempt, top-medal contender Australia's started well with 143kg but failed in his next two attempts of 147kg. England weightlifter Chris Murray topped the 'Snatch' category with three successful attempts of 138kg, 141kg and 144kg. Murray carried on his top-notch performance in the 'Clean & Jerk' category as he successfully lifted 174, 178, and 181. He also created a Games record by lifting 325kg in Men's 81kg in Commonwealth Games.

Meanwhile, Australian weightlifter Kyle Bruce missed by narrow margin to secure top-spot as as he slipped to second spot with the difference of two-points. He successfully lifted 175 and 180 in 1st and 2nd attempt, but jury termed his third attempt 'failed' due to technical errors. Nicolas Vachon from Canada won Bronze with 320-points.
