UFC Hall of Famer and champion Daniel Cormier is to be involved in an upcoming WWE event. Cormier will be part of the Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle bout as the referee to avoid any mishaps or interferences in the Fight Pit at Extreme Rules. Both Riddle and Rollins have been at each other , so when the two fighters go head to head, all sanity could be thrown out of the window.

Here Daniel Cormier would be crucial as he falls in the category of specific people who have the ability to keep both these fighters in check. The news reported by Ariel Helwani on Saturday night that Daniel Cormier, the former UFC Light Heavyweight and UFC Heavyweight champion, will be the guest referee when Rollins and Riddle square off in the Fight Pit.

Helwani posted, “Breaking: Daniel Cormier will serve as guest referee for next Saturday’s Fight Pit Match between Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins at WWE’s Extreme Rules in Philly. Oct. 8. No, seriously. It’s really happening. Oct. 8. Incredible.”

The veteran MMA reporter also quoted Cormier who said, “The Rollins-Riddle feud has gotten very intense and personal. There’s only one person qualified enough to oversee this brutal match at Xtreme Rules and it’s me. I’ll see you guys in Philly next Saturday.”

The 43-year-old has never been involved in pro wrestling but he has a lot of experience as an amateur wrestler. Cormier has been part of the US World or Olympic team six times. Similarly, he won a medal at the World Wrestling Championships and was an NCAA Division I national finalist during his college days at Oklahoma State.

Talking about the bout, the Fight Pit match can only be won by submission or referee 10-count and takes place in a steel cage (with a catwalk around the top) that doesn’t have the typical ropes or turnbuckles. That environment could work in the favour of Riddle, who had a successful career as an MMA fighter before he entered pro wrestling.
